The IVL is a significant instrument to ensure that New Zealanders' lives are enriched by sustainable travel industry development. It will do this by investing in projects that will meaningfully change the travel industry framework, assisting with making beneficial, manageable, and inclusive tourism growth that ensures and bolsters our environment.
The NZeTA is open to all nationalities. If you are an Australian permanent resident, you do not need to pay the IVL fee. However, if you are not an Australian permanent resident, here are some notes:
If your nationality belongs to one of the 60 visa waiver countries, your entry purpose must be for a visit (including the IVL fee) or transit (excluding the IVL fee).
If your nationality belongs to one of the other 137 eligible countries, you must travel to New Zealand via cruise ship (including the IVL fee) or transit at Auckland International Airport (excluding the IVL fee).
Eligibility
International Travellers whose sole objective of visiting New Zealand is recreation, sightseeing, and a casual visit to meet friends or relatives.
Australian permanent residents and non-Australian permanent residents (people from 60 visa waiver countries, and people from the other 137 eligible countries) can apply for the NZeTA.

Not available for Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or Laissez-passer travel document holders
Not available to people endorsed on Parent's/Spouse's Passport i.e. each person should have a separate passport
Not available for International Travel Document Holders
Notes:
The processing time is up to 5 business days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Public holidays.
Passport should have at least 3 months of validity after the date you plan to leave New Zealand. The passport should have at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.
The NZeTA is valid for 2 years for travelers, and 5 years for crew members from the date your NZeTA is issued.
The stay period in New Zealand is up to 3 months for most applicants. Only applicants from the United Kingdom are allowed to stay in New Zealand for up to 6 months.
As a transit passenger, you can only travel through Auckland International Airport where you must stay in the transit area of the airport or on board your craft and you must spend less than 24 hours in transit in New Zealand.
The NZeTA is valid for multiple entry.
